Pulsallama was a No Wave percussive ensemble from downtown Manhattan, which functioned as a ritualistic art collective and lasted from 1981 until ’83.
Wearing cocktail dresses on stage while playing jungle rhythms, Pulsallama intentionally focused on moving away from “too much serious art,” while simultaneously questioning the roles of women in the patriarchal entertainment business.
“The Devil Lives in my Husband’s Body” was released in 1982 on London’s Y Records — led by the manager of The Slits — around the time the band toured with The Clash and opened for the Sex Pistols. Know more about them here.
