Lizzy Mercier Descloux was a French-born singer and composer who was part of New York Free-Punk / Mutant-Disco scenes and ran in the same circles as Patti Smith or Richard Hell.
Also inspired by Rimbaud and Godard, Lizzy made her debut with “Press Colour”, a 1979 album on legendary ZE Records (James Chance, Lydia Lunch, Suicide, Arto Lindsay) that features the song “Wawa”.
The following releases from Lizzy mixed Avant-Garde Rock with African and Latin rhythms – including her co-writings with Jazz legend Chet Baker – only to be posthumously appreciated by a cult following in the Experimental and No Wave crates.
